Marketplace Safety

Inspect first. Pay carefully. Plan the pickup.

BobNJob reviews listings and inquiries, but every local transaction still requires good judgment from both the buyer and seller.
Important

BobNJob does not currently process payments, hold deposits, guarantee transactions or provide delivery. Never send money because someone claims BobNJob requires a deposit, upgrade or verification fee.

Before agreeing to buy

  • Review the actual listing photos, condition and measurements.
  • Ask questions about damage, missing parts and removal needs.
  • Inspect the item in person before paying whenever reasonably possible.
  • Confirm that the material is appropriate for your project; use a qualified professional when safety or code compliance is involved.
  • Check model numbers for recalls before purchasing appliances, fixtures, tools or electrical products.

Protect your money

  • Do not pay before seeing the item and confirming the seller.
  • Never pay with gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency or an unexpected payment link.
  • Be cautious with peer-to-peer payment apps because transfers may be difficult to reverse.
  • Sellers should never accept an overpayment or send money back to a buyer.
  • Never share verification codes, passwords or banking details.

Read official guidance from the Federal Trade Commission and the Georgia Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division.

Plan a safer pickup

  • Do not publish a full street address. Share exact pickup details only after both parties are ready.
  • Tell someone where you are going and avoid going alone.
  • Meet during daylight when possible.
  • Bring enough people, the correct vehicle and proper tie-downs for heavy or oversized materials.
  • Do not disconnect electrical, plumbing or gas systems unless a qualified person can do so safely and legally.
  • Stop the pickup if the item, location or situation differs materially from what was described.
